Miners Memos

Matt P. Tramel of Alva, Oklahoma, has been appointed head coach for the 2005 Mat-Su Miners.  Tramel is currently head coach at Bethany College Lindsborg, Kansas.

   Coach Tramel has been head assistant baseball coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University since August 1997 to July 2001 and at present. He also was NWOSU recruiting coordinator. From January 2002 to January of 2003 he was the head assistant baseball coach and interim head baseball coach at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa — where he also directed the WCC wellness center and was an instructor in health and physical education for classes in sports psychology, weight training, sports officiating, and baseball theory.

   Previously he was an assistant baseball coach at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas.

   He has been a head coach for American Legion baseball for high school athletes.

   He has coached NAIA All-Americans, NJCAA All-Americans, NAIA and NJCAA Baseball All-American Scholar athletes, as well as student-athletes who were all-conference selections, and Southwest All-Region Baseball team members. His teams set school records for wins at IWCC and NWOSU.

   He is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
