Miners blanked by Bucs at home
The Anchorage Bucs shutout the Mat-Su Miners
Four errors in the field paired with 11 runners left on base for the Mat-Su Miners provide the Anchorage Bucs a 6-0 shoutout victory at Hermon Brothers Field Wednesday night.
This marks the first time the Miners have been shutout all season and the most runs the team's given up in league play games.
"We just have to be more aggressive at the plate," LeBrun said. "We're taking too many pitches, especially with two strikes."
Jace Ziola got the start and gave up three runs but none of which were earned. The five free passes wounded Ziola on the hill all night, though he only gave up one hit. Jonathan Anders threw four strong relief innings for Mat-Su, but the lack of run support wiped out the importance of his outing.
Half of the Bucs players who scored reached on an error. The four fielding errors tie a single-game high this season.
Of the six Mat-Su hits, all were singles. Eight and nine-hole hitters Will Godfrey and Tyler Akers both recorded 2-hit nights.
Mat-Su looks to bounce back Thursday against the Peninsula Oilers, who they'll face for the first time this season. The Oilers are one game ahead of the Miners in the ABL standing and sit in second place. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. You can stream the game on the Mat-Su Miners YouTube channel.
