Miners fall to Bucs, lose second game in a row
Strong offense from the Miners, but 11 stranded on the base paths halt the comeback
A five-run sixth inning provide enough offense for the Anchorage Bucs who defeated the Mat-Su Miners 6-4 on Friday night at Hermon Brothers Field.
The Miners record a season-high in hits with 12, but strand 11 total baserunners throughout the game, 8 of them in scoring position. Austin Park put together another strong performance, reaching in all five at bats, and finishing wiht four singles, a run scored, and an RBI. Alexander Pearson found himslef in the cleanup spot for the first time this season and put together a three-hit performance with a run scored.
At one point in the game the Miners trailed by five runs, but added one in the sixth and two more in the eigth. Trailing by two runs in the ninth, Mat-Su got two runners in scoring position with one out, but the treat ended there.
Aside from the four hitters faced in the top of the sixth, Jace Ziola threw one of his strongest starts of the summer. Zach Bowman and Jonathan Anders provided more strong pitching from the bullpen.
The Miners take the Fourth of July off before another trip to Anchorage on Sunday against the Bucs. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. You can stream the game on the Mat-Su Miners YouTube channel.
